We’re making a new album and want you to be a part of it!

We’re in the process of working on a new album and we need your help to make it happen.  We’ve started a kickstarter to try and help raise some of the money we’ll need.  All that we are asking is for you to pre-order an advance copy of the album for $10. But there are some other sweet things you can get like an exclusive t-shirt, an acoustic EP, a live dvd, we’ll even write, record, and perform a song about you!

Rockwood Residency in May

Hurrah is returning to Rockwood in a BIG WAY –
with a four-week residency at Stage 2, every Friday at 10pm in May!

You may ask yourself:
HEY HURRAH, DO I REALLY NEED TO COME EVERY WEEK?

The answer is:
OF COURSE YOU DO YOU BIG DUMB BABY!

WHY? Because each week we’ll be paying homage to an artist whose music has had an influence on the band.

Those artists, you ask?

TOM PETTY
FOO FIGHTERS
THE PIXIES
REM

COOL? We thought so.

In addition to playing a few of their hits, we’ll be tailoring our original set to match each band, showcasing just what a bunch of backstabbing plagiarists we really are.

Last but not least…we’ll be taping each show to put together a LIVE DVD.
Be sure to come so you can get your pretty faces in the video!

Deli Magazine’s Best Indie Rock Band – 2011

The Deli Magazine picked us as the Best Indie Rock Band in NYC for 2011. Here’s what they had to say about us: “Wil Farr doesn’t take long to drown himself in sweat. Spun from the same cloth as Bruce Springsteen or Ian Curtis, he routinely leads his homespun band to a blaze of glory, forcing his restless spirit and barbed hooks through anyone looking for a dose of excitement. Hurrah! builds each track of their heartland-brewed, rocking yet rootsy tunes to a frenzy, making believers of anyone looking for a rush of adrenaline chased down with a shot of big band frenzy.”

Now its up to you guys to help us win overall Best of NYC Emerging Bands.  All you have to do is click here and vote for us.  They don’t require your email or any other personal info and it only takes two seconds.  The winner gets featured on the cover of the next print issue of the Deli.  Please help us out by voting!!!!

Show review in QRO Magazine

Show review from the Mercury Lounge on 11.11.11.

“The opening act, Hurrah! A Bolt of Light! electrified the start of the night. Their music sounded something like Joe Cocker or Bruce Springsteen & The Easy Street Band (QRO live review), very charged and exciting. It’d be difficult to stand motionless during one of their sets unless you are in a body cast. The singer has the wide-eyed intense glare of PIL’s John Lydon (QRO live review – and if you said Hurrah’s frontman was his son, I’d believe you), an intense stare and focus similar to Ian Curtis. Watching him and his female co-singer was like watching Johnny Cash and June Carter having as much fun entertaining themselves as their audience. The crowd was not shy to embrace the spirit of excitement either.”

This Friday at the Mercury Lounge 11.11.11

We’re back from tour and sounding better then ever. Come see this Friday 11.11.11. We’re opening the night at 6:30pm followed by Happy People, and With Lions

Here’s what The New Yorker had to say:

Splitting their time between New York City and Baltimore, the duo With Lions plays slow-cooked shoegaze. With Happy People, who offer a danceable pop-rock sound like that of Phoenix, but darker and more sparsely laid out, and Hurrah! A Bolt of Light, who traffic in anthemic and melodramatic material.
